The words fair and logical have been avoided by every government and the Olympics as well. We need to change the related reporting.
The Proper 2010 Olympic Winner's Listing
To be fair we as members of this world should agree to take into consideration things like the population sizes of our nations and also the value of the medals won when creating the real winners lists. So, here we go but only for the top ten metal count winners as I have not had time to do the computations for all the wonderful winners:
Version 1 (Current Version): Based upon their total metal counts their nation's final standing.
Country Gold Silver Bronze Total

Version 3 (Fairest Version which combines the Potential Players as well as the Metal Values): Based upon their populations as well as the ranked metal values where the Gold is worth say 5 points, the Silver 3 points and the Bronze 1 point what was the real return on their nation's investments in supporting this great competitive gathering.
Country Gold Silver Bronze Medal Values Population Value Per Million Citizens

Using the more logical and far fairer system of comparison it becomes very obvious who the top ten the real winners should be and which nations should receive the newly designed Nation Winner Cups:
Gold Nation Cup: Norway
Silver Nation Cup: Austria
Bronze Nation Cup: Sweden
Now some of you should feel a lot better and remember it took a good accountant using the proper business model to come up with this conclusion.
One more thing. These cups should be made of the expressed substances in order to retain their market value differences and should be placed where the largest number of citizens, those who really paid for this competition, can see them for at least the next 1000 years which will be the time it takes for all of us to realize that this is one world and to see these multinationals compete on a Best in the World versus the ancient and somewhat silly Best Nation basis.
